How engraving works
Everything is designed by you and engraved by hand in our shop.
Engraved, not printed
We use a laser, so your design is one tone and lasts as long as the item. On a coated tumbler the laser takes the colour off and shows bright steel underneath; on bare stainless it leaves a darker, frosted mark; on wood it toasts the grain. The preview shows the mark in the colour you'll get.
You choose the colours of the item
Pick the tumbler's colour and the lid you like. The engraving itself is always the material showing through, so there's no ink colour to choose.
Photos become tiny dots
A pet photo is turned into fine dots the laser can make, like a newspaper picture. Bright, sharp, close-up photos with a plain background work best. We'll warn you if a photo is too small to engrave crisply.
A real person checks every design
Before anything goes on the machine, our team looks at your design. If something won't engrave well, we'll email you a link to fix it — no charge.
